Brothers of the West

Welcome to the Brothers of the West page, the series that made me a writer, and the one I consider to be my life's work.

Brothers of the West is set in the fictional world of Monument State, a world inspired by the 19th-century American West. There are a few twists, however. Monument State is not an extension/territory of the United States, nor does Christianity exist here. It is set in its own universe (The Discovered World), with its own unique geography, history, politics, religion, calendars and cultures.

The series starts with Brothers of the West: Dawn and follows George Hardy, an ill-fated cattle worker in northern Monument State. George has been plagued by guilt and trauma for ten years, ever since he failed to save his sister from her terrible fate. He believes himself to be a failure and someone who will never achieve anything substantial in life. When the Hillman Boys, Monument State’s most dangerous criminal gang, ravage his hometown in search of stolen gold, George senses an opportunity to change his fortunes. With his wife and loyal friends by his side, George embarks upon an epic adventure into the vast, gruelling world of Monument State to hunt down the Hillman Boys and change his life forever.

Brothers of the West: Dawn is more than just a Western. It has action; it has adventure; it provides a fictional universe for you to dive into. But even more importantly, it is a story that shows the power of grief and justice, and the determination of human beings to escape their demons and change their lives for the better.

Dawn is just the beginning. The Brothers of the West saga will span across six novels. Even beyond that, the vast worlds of Monument State and its neighbouring continent, Old Country, are massive worlds teeming with life that can serve as the setting to several spin-offs I have planned These include novels that focus on some of the key events in Monument State and Old Country's history that shaped their societies.

Amongst those spin-offs are The Missy Milligan Adventures, a series of short stories that follow Old Country's most famous Bounty Hunter. These stories will be available to read here on this website in the coming months and years.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Brothers of the West. I can't wait to bring you these stories.
